Laura Pergolizzi, aka LP, absolutely stunned the Independent last night on her first of two sold out shows to support her fourth studio album, Lost on You (iTunes).

Although not yet a household name, for over the past 10 years, LP has written songs for Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Cher, the Backstreet Boys and a host of others while managing to release her own catalog of material with varying degrees of support from former record labels. But it seems that she's finally found a home on BMG/Vagrant with the label getting behind Lost on You which has resulted in sold out shows across major markets across the US.

The show opened with Vermont native, Noah Kahan, a signer-songwriter guitarist who warmed up the crowd with a solid 30 minute set before giving way to LP's entrance at 10:30 and her anthem, "Strange". The crowd erupted with the opening verse "Hey! Anyone can get love. Anyone can get laid. You know you're home when you find the ones who stay." It was a fitting way to kick off the 90-minute set and led into all of her other fan favorites!

Among the things that stand out in LP's music has got to be her raspy vocals that at times come across fragile, vulnerable and a bit tentative, but can swing to the polar opposite with an incredible range and vibrato not found in many other musicians. Her title track and top charting hit, "Lost On You" is the perfect example of her range and style, and the crowd loved every minute.

Although LP spent most of her time at center stage, she did an amazing amount of interacting with the fans who were lucky enough to get within arms length, shaking and holding hands, signing at least one autograph, and borrowing about a half dozen phones to do onstage selfies.

She's got another show tonight, but unless you're one of the lucky 500 to be holding a ticket, you'll have to catch her the next time she's in SF. If you're reading this outside San Francisco, be sure to check her tour page for the closest show to your hometown and be sure to get tickets early!
