The double-bill of Lindsey Stirling and Evanescence came through Shoreline last night and was greeted by an Amphitheater that was about two-thirds full, and from what I could tell, mainly comprised of their most passionate fans. Kicking off the night was Cellogram at 7pm, followed soon after by Lindsey at 8pm; and then Evanescence at 9:35pm.

Lindsey’s set opened up with a video montage that featured clips of her experience on America’s Got Talent from 2010. While the video played, a backing orchestra of about 30 performers filed to their positions on the left and right sides of the stage before being joined by Lindsey and her four dancers. For the next 75 minutes, Lindsey performed her mainly instrumental violin pieces while combining the choreographed dance routines that have made her a YouTube sensation along with impressive costume changes after every 2-3 songs. Lindsey also took time out to talk about her admiration of Evanescence and played a video of her as a 15 year old dancing to "Bring Me to Life". She went on to say how important it is to set goals for your life and that she's absolutely thrilled to be playing alongside Evanescence every night on this tour. Among the highlights of her set, Amy Lee's appearance and vocals on "Shatter Me" were probably the standout.

Next up was the main headliner, Evanescence, who also used the same 30-piece backing orchestra split across either side of the stage and featured the remainder of the core band right behind Amy Lee at center stage when she wasn't sitting behind her grand piano. I've always loved her haunting vocals and last night was no different as she sounded absolutely great. The band combined their relatively harsh percussive and electronic synth sounds with the orchestra's delicate classical string arrangements that helped to carry Amy's vocals with the cool Bay breeze that stretched into the night.

Besides their hits, other standouts included covers of the Beatles "Across the Universe" and closing number, Ozzy Osborne's "No More Tears". Unlike Lindsey, Amy didn't chat much between songs, but she did stop before "My Immortal" to ask the audience if we could just live in this moment? 'Life's too short, can we just live in this moment?' And encouraged everyone to turn on the lights on their phones which lit-up the theater in a sea of white light.

Midway through their show, Lindsey returned to the stage and joined the second half of "Hi-Lo" that you can find below:

Overall, what a great show and it's great to see Evanescence out on the road again. This time supporting their recent 2017 album, Synthesis. There are only a couple of dates left on this tour, but don't miss them the next time they head out to your town!
