Preview - Outside Lands (8/8 - 8/10/25)

Matt Pang

Outside Lands, one of the most renowned music festivals, is returning to San Francisco this year at the Golden Gate Park from August 8th - 10th. With a star-studded lineup panning across all genres, they’ve hit all of the checklists for a fantastic weekend.

Headliners include: Tyler the Creator, Hozier, Doja Cat, John Summit, Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals, Vampire Weekend (matinee and night set), Glass Animals, Gracie Abrams, Jamie XX, Doechi, and Gesaffelstein.

Personal favorites include Tyler, the Creator, who just had a huge year through the extensive tour of Chromokopia. Jorja Smith finally gets to return to the stage after a short hiatus and a few cancelled North American shows. 2hollis brings the young energy of hyperpop and rap together and had a large turnout at his other festival runs.

Mayer Hawthorne is guaranteed to have you moving your feet to the sweet melodies of romantic funk. Other highlights include Sammy Virji, who has only sold out bigger shows, consistently bringing the fun energy of EDM back. If you’re a big fan of Anderson .Paak, don’t forget to check out his DJ set as DJ Pee.Wee, who’s known to spin records of old and modern disco fusion.

The Bay Area’s favorite LaRussel will also not disappoint. He’ll bring the hometown energy of positive and enthusiastic rap. Another great voice is Kate Bollinger, who’s playing only 1 of her 2 shows this year, so it’ll be a rare one! Her indie sound matched with her band will be perfect on a sunny afternoon. Lastly, I would check out Midnight Generation, who are a disco electronic group from Mexico that have been on my playlists for the past few years.

The Dolores stage will also make a comeback for its third year, which is an inclusive dance floor where everyone is welcomed, while also celebrating the queer and trans communities.

This year will be an exciting one as Outside Lands will debut the Duboce Triangle stage, named after the San Francisco neighborhood. This new stage will be located in the shaded area of McLaren Pass. This will be a perfect opportunity for you to catch your favorite artists up and personal on this intimate stage. Each day will have new acts performing, which include The Emo Night Tour, Mayer Hawthorne (DJ Set), Kate Bollinger (Solo), Electric Feels, and much more.

Think you’ve got what it takes to perform at Outside Lands? The festival is giving you the perfect opportunity with Bay Area group Rainbow Girls, who are having an open mic every day at the Duboce Stage supporting local talent.

There will be a wide variety of pop-ups and food booths as well, making Outside Lands one of the weekends you can’t miss! There will be the finest culinary offerings along with Grass Lands, the first curated cannabis experience at a major American music festival. Other experiences include Wine Lands, stocking some of the most innovative California wineries, and Beer Lands, bringing you the Bay Area’s award-winning craft brewing options. Don’t forget Cocktail Magic, where you can grab a drink with a unique, one-of-a-kind experience, including magic and different acts.

Outside Lands 2025 is not sold out yet, so readers can still purchase a 3-day pass to attend all days of the festival or 1 day if they cannot attend all days. Be sure to purchase them soon, as prices will start to increase closer to the event.

3-day passes start at $539; single-day passes start at $235. There are also options for GA+ and VIP, along with the Golden Gate Club, which acts as the most premier option, allowing guests to have front-stage viewing and having a personal cart chauffeur.
