Review - OK Go @ the Catalyst (3/20/15)

What an evening! Last Friday night, OK Go kicked off their spring tour with an opening night at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Surprisingly, tickets were still available at the door for what shaped up to be a full sensory experience that evening! LA-based openers, White Arrows, put on a solid 30-minute warm-up before OK Go took the stage just after 9:30.

Unbeknownst to most in the crowd, the load-in of the bands equipment took longer than expected and delayed the opening of the venue doors which possibly led to the band cutting their cover of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" which they performed the night after at the Warfield in San Francisco.

But besides that minor deviation from their planned setlist, the band sounded tight and well choreographed in their on-stage antics. The band kicked off the night behind a white curtain for the first few songs, and later, showered the crowd with confetti cannons periodically throughout the show. Damian even jumped down into the crowd and waded through the masses to perform with his acoustic in the center of floor during the middle of the show.
