Just a few days earlier, Royal Blood, the British duo taking the modern rock scene by storm right now, was performing in the Southern California dessert at Coachella... This past Tuesday night, the two-piece blew the roof off Slim's for the first of two sold out shows.

Drummer, Ben Thatcher, was rock solid behind his kit and pounded away while holding a steady glare at the audience throughout the night.

Mike Kerr, lead vocalist and bassist, taunted the initially sedate SF crowd before tearing into hits like "Figure it Out" (iTunes) and "Little Monster" (iTunes) from their debut self-titled album, Royal Blood (iTunes).

Although it was a great show, and even the openers Mini Mansions put on a strong showing, I can't help but feel as if the second night was just a tad bit better... Metalica's Lars Ulrich joined the band onstage to perform "Out of the Black" (iTunes) with the band. Here's the video:

Don't get me wrong, these guys kick ass, and the show was fantastic. I'm just jealous that I missed the second night!

Here's the setlist from the night, as you can see, they played their entire catalog during the show.

Setlist:
1. Hole
2. Come On Over
3. You Can Be So Cruel
4. Figure It Out
5. Better Strangers
6. Little Monster
7. Blood Hands
8. One Trick Pony
9. Careless
10. Ten Tonne Skeleton
11. Loose Change
Encore:
12. Out of the Black

Be sure to catch these guys when they come to your town!
